LHS has its choir practice on Thursday afternoons, trained by a vocalist from the Vocal Associates provided by The Purple Symphony. LHS choir is also part of The Purple Symphony. At this juncture, the school would like to express its appreciation to The Purple Symphony for engaging Miss Khor, the vocalist and Bertrand, the pianist, to train and support our students in developing their singing skills as young as seven years old.
The Choir comprises of 14 members and they are 5 students from Primary 1, 5 students from Primary 4, 3 students from SPED Junior and 1 student from Upper SPED. During each training session, students will be required to do warming exercises including lip drills to prepare them for the songs which they will be learning. They will also be given the opportunity to learn songs in different languages, such as Chinese and Japanese. It is also a good platform to reinforce good values, such as responsibility and respect during these training sessions.
On 13 March 2019, 9 members were selected to perform at the SAVH Charity Dinner held at Mandarin Orchard. Mr Heng Swee Keat, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, was the Guest-of Honour for this event. At the end of the performance, the choir members, together with Zhi Lin, who was the pianist, took a photograph with Mr and Mrs Heng Swee Keat. It was certainly an enriching experience for these performers.
